June 2003 marks the opening of the first dbeads store in Berlin. Dagmar Brückner, a glassbead maker, has created an attractive selection of one-of-a-kind glass bead jewelry. In the adjacent studio space, the artist offers professional training in the rarely practised craft of glass beadmaking. Gift certificates make a special give away. They are available for her jewelry as well as for beadmaking courses.
After working and studying in New York for several years Dagmar founded dbeads - creative glass jewelry. At Urban Glass, Brooklyn, NY she began learning the art of glass beadmaking and has since studied under Kristina Logan (USA), Diana East (UK), Andrea Penzo (Murano) and Akihiro Ohkama (Japan). After several successful shows in New York, Dagmar Brückner relocated to Berlin in the summer of 2000 to create a new forum for the almost forgotten art of beadmaking in Germany. Being fascinated by the medium glass, which appears fragile but can outlast centuries, Dagmar Brückner began using this old technique to develop innovative color combinations and bead designs. In her work Dagmar Brückner is inspired by antique fabrics and beads, as well as by fashion trends and designs of the 60s and 70s. The New Yorker TIME OUT magazine wrote about her in connection with a successful show: "Her unique bead patterns run the gamut from Pucci-like swirls of vibrant color to streaky metallic hues." (Time Out New York, June 15-22, 2000). Excellent craftsmanship and precious materials, like antique beads, silver and gold, make each creation a unique piece of art, which will fulfill even the highest expectations. The customer of dbeads - creative glass jewelry can choose from a vast number of designs and can be sure that each piece is one-of-a-kind. In case the matching necklace for that special outfit cannot be found, the artist is happy to create a custom-made piece of jewelry. |
